Ouch, that’s my knee.

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

I have two things I should be doing right now and neither of them are writing down shite from this weekend. On the other hand, I’m watching some Deadwood right now and, well, why not?

So….

Squash results are coming in. I had two league matches the past week and won both of them. First match went 3-1 and the second one went 3-0.

Friday night was the league night. It was excellent. Great time. I got to play against five different people. 5 games in 2 hours. oof.

Training is going well. More squash this week than running, but I’ll get some running in next week.

Hey guess what? I’m turning 25.

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

again.

Ok. I guess I’m not fooling anyone here. This will be, in fact, the seventh time I have turned twenty five. I haven’t aged a day…

Funny enough, getting older doesn’t actually bother me. Things seem to get a lot better as I get older, so the reality is I’m actually enjoying it. It’s not a mid-life crisis nor is it a cry to stay young. It’s a joke I started years ago that seems to good to let go of.

But anyway, I’m turning twenty five again in a couple of weeks. I’ve decided to do something a bit more enjoyable than the traditional, well, nothing.

Step 1. 2 hours of climbing at the local Alien Rock climbing centre. I’ve never been before, but a couple of my friends do it and I’ve been looking for an excuse. It looks like quite a lot of fun.

Step 2a. BBQ. Whether it’s on the beach or it’s in a garden, if the weather is nice we’re going to BBQ the fuck out of my birthday. Yum.

Step2b. Curry. Jesus how British have I turned out to be? If the weather is shite, we’ll be going to a curry. Double yum.

Step 3. Moderately paced consumption of alcohol. I’ve been off the booze lately, so I’ll be a bit of a lightweight this year.

nice.

And the training begins…

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

I’m in training for something. Something I can’t announce yet as I haven’t confirmed it. But I’m taking the positive view of all of this and have started training.

It’s not too bad. For the next two months I’ll be concentrating on general fitness. That means losing 15-20 pounds and building up my general fitness levels. I’m already getting better with all of the squash I’m doing, but I need to kick it up another level.

So the plan for the next two months:

Exercise:
- Squash 3-4 times/week
- Jogging 2-3 times/week

(I’m going to start off with 3.5 miles and work my way up to 8-10 miles)

Diet:
- Sun-Thurs = fresh veg, fresh meat, low carbs
- Sun-Thurs = no alcohol
- breakfast of multi-grain cereal and yakult
- Fri-Sat = day off

So I’ll need some people to come help me run.

Anyone?

This should be easier than it is.

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Meh.

I’ve been staring at my screen this morning. Ok, my head is still a little full of the cold, but seriously – this should be easier than it’s proving to be. All I’m trying to do is write some text for our new website. Considering I do that for a living, you’d think this would be a snap.

Work is both exciting and nervous. Will there ever be a time when we don’t have to worry about things like income, bills and new clients? On the other hand, would I really want it to change that much?

I’m off to Glasgow in a bit to meet up with the Franchise Group. We have two prospects on the cards and we’re waiting to hear back from the proposal. All signs are pointing to go, but you just never know until the money is deposited. See how much I have inherited from Andy?

I’ve had to take a week or so off from Squash and, whilst that’s tremendously annoying me, it’s also doing wonders for my back, knee and leg. Maybe I am getting a bit too old to be doing all of this without concern for my…parts.

Right. I’m off to Glasgow.

Bet it rains.

We wuz robbed, I tell ya…

Oh that hurt. There is nothing like the bitter test of six nations defeat. It’s a taste I’ve grown used to living in Scotland, but it doesn’t make it any tastier.

I’m not normally one of those ‘we can take a lot of positives’ Scotland supporters. Fuck positives. You need to win to take positives. Taking positives out of a defeat is one of the many reasons that Scottish sport is so shite. Too ready to accept a valiant effort. To ready to leave the field bowed in defeat (regardless of how valiant).

But today, I must admit, I’m taking some positives out of that defeat. That was the most complete performance I have seen from them in a long time. The defense was good. They fought the breakdown really well. They kicked well (where the hel did that come from, Mr Parks?) and they showed some willingness to really create opportunities in offense.

Wales didn’t deserve that win. I think there are more questions than ever for their entire team. Sloppy play and poor decision making. I’m not sure what is going on, but I think it probably stems, in part, from Gareth Cooper. He’s just not up to it.

So another losing six nations for Scotland. I’m sad for Robinson right now, I think he and the team are doing well.

(oh yeah, and well done mossy for 100 caps)

Ok, I failed. On the other hand, whisky is lovely.

I missed this weekend. Well, from a ‘keep my pact with Gareth and update this damn blog everyday’ point of view. From a ‘have some fun, see some mates and kick some ass on the squash court’ point of view, I’m doing just fine baby.

So it was Superbowl Sunday yesterday. We had a great day. Scotland sucked and lost to France in the 6 Nations, but that was really the only blight. I won at poker (well, this could be contested. It was down to me and Mitchell and I was smoking his ace (edit. I meant ass). Gman came into the flat so, in order to finish the game, I put a massive bet down on a pair of fours. I wouldn’t do that, normally. So morally, although we drew, I win), and the Saints beat the Colts in the Superbowl.

Friday night was excellent. I went ’round to G’s house and we got caught up on all the goings on with my former social group. It’s funny how quickly people can become part of a ‘former’ friend group, but also interesting how easy it is to slip back into a conversation. I guess when you know people that well….

Saturday was also ace. Hazel and Chris had me(Sue and her odd ballooning friend, Iain and his son Tim) over for dinner. They have a new table tennis table in the garage and I can attest to the fact that whisky + table tennis = hilarity.

So no grief about missing two days of shitty writing. I have fun to do.

Well, I’ve moved again.

Friday, October 16th, 2009

I’m sick of moving. Sick of it.

But, as always, I seem to have landed on my feet again.

This time I’ve made the shortest move of my life – from the third floor to the second floor. Same flat layout. Same room. Different floor (and flatmate).

My new flatmate is Mark. He’s a painter and decorator from Manchester. Excellent chap.

And I have broadband again, so I’ll try to keep this up to date.

New Site

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Well, it seemed like about time. After years of pretending to update my site and faking a blog, I’ve finally given up on it and have transfered to wordpress.

Much, much, better.

I’ll try to actually keep this one up-to-date…and I’ll slowly start to add the photos/videos/music that the old site had.

That’s all folks.
